About Us

Ian, a Fifth Form (11th grade) student at Choate Rosemary Hall, is passionate about electrical engineering and computer science. His fascination stems from their potential to solve real-world challenges, as demonstrated through his work on graphene pressure sensors for surgical robots and financial technology applications. He is particularly drawn to how these fields enable the translation of abstract concepts into tangible solutions that improve people's lives. Ian envisions a future where integrating advanced robotics and artificial intelligence will revolutionize healthcare and automation, making precision procedures more accessible and safer through enhanced tactile feedback systems and intelligent control mechanisms.

Jordan Demark is currently a freshman at Darien High School. He is interested in biology and aerospace technology. Jordan likes these areas because he is enrolled in a biology class and has seen many interesting parts of the subject. Jordan has always been fascinated by our accessibility to space. The mere concept that there is something beyond our known world is fascinating to him. He believes these topics are very interesting as to how the intricate pieces of the microbial world impact our daily lives. Jordan could envision it being applied and used in biology to improve the performance of space technology. He has already seen concepts for self-sustaining ecosystems within spacecraft, and that is just the tip of the iceberg.

Max is an 8th grader at Eaglebrook School who is passionate about physics and computer science. He is particularly captivated by advancements in space technology and aspires to become a leading engineer in the field of astrophysics. Max believes that humans will soon collaborate with AI in all aspects of life, leading to significant changes and the possibility of becoming a multi-planetary species. As the Chapter Head of Eaglebrook, he is committed to using TechTrek to inspire more students to engage in STEM learning.

Ramira Sharad is a Year 12 student at the German Swiss International School. She has a fascination with all things science but is particularly interested in the field of engineering, particularly materials science and sustainable design. She believes that the development of this field of study addresses plenty of global issues and plays a key role in building a more resilient future. Ramira envisions a future where AI and machine learning will contribute to the exploration of more efficient and sustainable design possibilities. Engineering, like it always has, will continue to play a crucial role in the development of society, and it will be shaped by more optimized designs and the invention of stronger, lighter materials.

Lukas is a Year 11 student currently attending German Swiss International School in Hong Kong. With a strong passion for medicine and biochemical research, he is beyond thrilled to discover more about the latest endeavors into the endlessly detailed subject. As living beings, learning more about the very body humans use to observe and interact with the world around is of unparalleled importance. From vital organ systems to infinitesimal microorganisms, the human body never fails to surprise with the miracle of life itself. In the not-so-distant future, Lukas can see the wonders of Artificial Intelligence and robotics eventually make its way into the world of medical diagnosis and research, which he is thoroughly excited to learn more about!

Grayden Kniffen is currently a sophomore enrolled at Greens Farms Academy. He is interested in the study of AI technology as well as the study of nutritional science and the effect of which it has in the human body. AI is a major topic in discussions about the future, and
he would like to study it further because he believes it will become increasingly relevant in our daily lives as AI development continues to advance. The study of nutritional science plays a large role in the determination of the health and wellbeing of the human body and he would like to know more about why that is and how that chemistry determines it.

Ashley is a Year 11/Grade 10 student from Harrow International School Hong Kong and rather than Biology or Chemistry, she is more interested in the Human Sciences, specifically Psychology and Linguistics (if one can count that as a science). Ashley loves learning about the brain, why we think and act the way we do and reasonings for human behaviour. She also loves learning about the complexities of language and how this influences our day-to-day lives from its evolution, etymology and more. Ashley sees the future of psychology and linguistics as combining new technologies like Artificial Intelligence and other research to create new treatments and understanding of psychological issues as well as preserving endangered languages and finding new connections between languages globally. In her free time, Ashley loves to dance, especially ballet, read anything mildly depressing and scrapbook all her memories into her journal! 

Ben, an 11th grader at The Independent Schools Foundation Academy, is captivated by algebraic geometry—a field that reveals deep connections between geometric shapes and algebraic equations. Drawn to its theoretical depth and elegance, he envisions the field advancing through discoveries linking it with topology, number theory, and representation theory. With the growing role of computational tools, Ben foresees researchers investigating intricate structures like higher-dimensional varieties and uncovering transformative insights. As algebraic geometry’s tools evolve, Ben believes they will illuminate groundbreaking ideas in theoretical physics and cryptography, reshaping our understanding of the abstract world of shapes and
numbers.

Anvi Anand, a 10th grader at the Lawrenceville School, is one of TechTrek’s Technology Columnists. She is especially intrigued by biotechnology, having done dissections in the lab to thorough research on Artificial Intelligence’s intersection in the healthcare industry. She believes that biotech is the future of the medical world, becoming a vital resource in combatting future mutations and discovering advanced drugs. She is also strongly passionate about identifying Greener AI to stay sustainable, being both a win for the Earth and its people. Envisioning a future full of tech, Anvi believes the power duo of biology and AI will aid new technological inventions in efficient disease diagnostics and drug production, remaining curious to explore ongoing initiatives at the global scale!

Oceana is currently a III former at The Lawrenceville School and is looking forward to being a Tech Columnist for TechTrek this year. She believes technology is a constantly evolving field, and especially appreciates the rapidly growing subfield of artificial intelligence. Valuing the coverage of how AI advancements shape the world, she is particularly interested in how artificial intelligence and the physical sciences intersect, where innovations enable new applications and significant discoveries. She envisions a future where technology continues to completely transform industries, shift perspectives, and redefine barriers.

Jenny Chen '26 is currently a junior at Lawrenceville and the Biology and Chemistry columnist for TechTrek. Since a young age, she has been fond of the complex system that a human body operates, and has wished to find innovative ways to cure diseases to leave a positive impact on society. As both a writer and a reader, she believes that TechTrek is a great way to stay on top of the most recent technology innovations and breakthroughs, as credibility of where information is sourced is just as important. Looking into the future, Jenny hopes for a competitive biological and chemical technology field, since healthy conflict is what most drives scientific advancement, and benefits the people who consume these products.

Gabriel Vermut is a III Form student at The Lawrenceville School and serves as the Physics and Aerospace Columnist for TechTrek. He has a deep interest in physics, engineering, and space exploration, particularly in how scientific advancements can push the boundaries of human knowledge and technology. His passion for the field stems from a fascination with the laws that govern the universe and the innovations that make space travel possible. Gabriel envisions a future where space exploration becomes more accessible, sustainable, and interconnected with advancements in AI and renewable energy. He is excited to explore and write about huge developments that shape the future of aerospace and physics.

Sophie Lin is a junior at The Webb Schools with a strong passion for biochemistry and biotechnology. She is particularly intrigued by the intersection of science and technology, especially how advancements in artificial intelligence could revolutionize the medical field. Sophie is eager to explore how AI can enhance medical diagnostics, improve treatment options, and transform healthcare accessibility on a global scale. She is driven by a curiosity to understand the underlying mechanisms that connect biology, chemistry, and technology, and how these can be harnessed to create innovative solutions for complex challenges. In her spare time, Sophie is a big fan of vintage computers, golfing and watching musicals. 

Roger He is a junior at Valley Christian High School in San Jose, with a strong passion for biology and neuroscience. His passion comes from a desire to help others and contribute to the betterment of society. His academic interests include genetics, neurology, medicine, and biochemistry. These fields align with his aspiration to become a surgeon. Roger envisions a future where technological advancements, particularly in artificial intelligence and robotics, play an even greater role in diagnosis and surgical procedures, revolutionizing the medical field.
